Myths About How To Get Six Pack Abs

Everyone wants to how to get six pack abs but there's a lot of misinformation out there. Little do most people know doing exercises alone will not get you ripped. Someone once said "Abs are made in the kitchen" and they weren't lying. Getting those sexy abs will be 90% diet and 10% exercises and cardio. You can sign up for the best programs in the world and do the exercises and build the ab muscles; but you won't be able to see them because a layer of fat will be covering them. Now let's dive into 3 common myths about how to get a six pack.

Myth #1: You should do exercises for your abs everyday so you get that six pack! This is not true at all, in fact it's opposite. If you've done any weight lifting previously (any muscle groups) you'll know your muscles grow during rest. So if you're doing exercises every day for one specific muscle group you're not giving your muscles enough time to recover between sessions. It's recommended you workout 3 days a week with a rest day following the workout day (ie: workout Monday, rest Tuesday, workout Wednesday, etc.).

Myth #2: The more reps you do per exercise the better. This is an insanely common myth and I hear it from everyone who is trying to figure out how to get six pack abs. Doing 100 crunches right out of the gate will cause you to overwork/over-train the muscles and you'll be very sore the next day which in turn discourage you and you'll likely quit. I recommend doing 25 reps per exercise with slight breaks between exercises (no longer than 60 seconds, try to keep it to 30 seconds or under), on some of them to "super-sets" (go straight to the next exercise without a break).

Myth #3: You have to work the upper and lower abs separately man! The truth here is you can't as they all contract simultaneously. While you may feel it more in the lower abs it's equally working the upper and vice-versa.

Keep these tips in your head while working those abs and you'll have a six pack in no time!
